Sonish Sivarajkumar is a Ph.D. student in Intelligent Systems at University of Pittsburgh, supervised by Dr. Yanshan Wang. His research focusses on designing and validating advanced Natural Language Processing(NLP) and deep learning techniques for clinial information retrieval and extraction. His research interests include NLP, information retrieval, information extraction and applications of these topics for clinical discoveries and improving healthcare. He is also interested in generative AI and foundational models that can create novel patient embeddings.
He is an experienced professional in the field of healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on AI technologies. With extensive industrial experience, he has established himself as an expert in the development of AI technologies in the healthcare industry. Before pursuing his PhD, Sonish served as a data scientist at IQVIA, in IQVIA's AI CoE, wheren he contributed to the development of AI-based solutions for various healthcare applications. Sonish has also worked as an AI research intern at Genentech (Roche Pharmaceutical) in the gRED (Genentech Research and Early clinical Development) team, in the development of NLP techniques in drug discovery and clinical development. He had a significant stint at Merck, where he was involved in utilizing AI and NLP methods to analyze oncology providers' adherence to NCC guidelines and the quality of care for early-stage breast cancer patients.
